Margene Scappaticci Williams, 83, of N. Thomas Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away October 3, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 3:00 PM, at Blodgett Street Baptist Church with Pastor David Prell officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Margene Scappaticci Williams was born January 16, 1927 in Bartlett, Oklahoma to Jesse and Vancie Wilson. She grew up in Grannis, Arkansas with her two sisters, Helen and Margaret and spent time in Memphis Tennessee where she worked for The Peabody Hotel. This is where she met and married her first husband, Carmine Scappaticci. Margene and Carmine had three boys, Carmine, Charles and Jess. She moved to New Mexico in 1964 and lived in the eastern part of New Mexico and West Texas. Margene was a homemaker and raised her three boys. Carmine Scappaticci died in 1972 and Margene remained in Carlsbad raising her sons. She met Richard Williams in 1985 and married in 1986. Margene and Richard have cared for many abandoned animals and enjoyed working at the local animal rescue, Noah's Ark. Margene was very artistic working with ceramics and growing beautiful plants. She was a member of Blodgett Street Baptist Church. Margene's sons describe her as patient, hard working and a devoted and loving mother who always provided unconditional love. Margene is preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Carmine Scappaticci.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Williams of Carlsbad, NM; three sons: Carmine Scappaticci and wife, Frances, Charles Scappaticci and wife, Marsha, Jess Scappaticci; two granddaughters: Christa and Jamie; two sisters: Helen Allen, Margaret Grimm and many nieces and nephews.
