Margarita A. "Maggie" Lopez, 84, of Harroun Rd., Malaga, New Mexico, passed away September 29, 2010 at her home. Visitation will be Friday, October 1, 2010, 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Denton Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, October 1, 2010, 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Loving, NM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, October 2, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Fr. Valetnine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Margarita A. "Maggie" Lopez was born May 18, 1926 in Fort Davis, Texas to Perfecto and Delores (Elizaldes) Acosta. On May 3, 1948, she married Jim Lopez, Sr. in Monahans, Texas. She was a member of Apostolado of Cristo Rey. Margarita loved to cook for her family, spend time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and in later years became a grandma to many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lopez, Sr. in 2007; grandson Michael Calderon; sisters: Natalia Trujillo, Cuca Granger, Rosa Granger; brothers: Juan Acosta, Roberto Acosta, Pepe Acosta and Eusebio Acosta. Survivors are her children: Sally Vasquez and husband, Tony of Malaga, Sonny Lopez of Malaga, Lucy Lopez of Malaga, Thelma Calderon and husband, Ben of Malaga, Herman Lopez of Carlsbad, Henry Lopez and wife, Selina of Malaga, David Lopez of Malaga; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sister, Irene Campos of Carlsbad, NM; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be Rudy Vasquez, Lupe Carrasco, Benny Calderon, Daniel Lopez, Mark Lopez, Jimmy Joe Lopez, Steven Calderon, John Paul Lopez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
