Margarita C. Armendariz

Margarita C. Armendariz, 91, of West Stevens Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2015 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11, 2015, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Wednesday, August 12, 2015, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Margarita C. Armendariz was born April 30, 1924 in Marfa, Texas to Florentino and Maria Martinez (Hernandez) Carnero. She moved to Loving as a young girl with her parents. Margarita was a bartender for many years at the Silver Spur Lounge and several other local bars. She was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed gambling, bingo, swimming and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters: Evangelina Armendariz, Margarita Armendariz; sons: Joe Rueda, Arturo Rueda; eight sisters and one brother. Survivors are her sons: Alejandro Duran and wife, Ann of Albuquerque, NM, Adon C. Armendariz and wife, Mary of Seattle, WA, Ignacio Armendariz of Carlsbad, NM, Daniel Mario Armendariz and wife, Bessie of Carlsbad, NM, Sylvestre Rueda and wife, Elvira of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Amelia Armendariz of Carlsbad, NM, Flora Corona and husband, Johnny of Carlsbad, NM, Olga Calanche and Pete Martinez of Loving, NM, Pattie Carnero of Carlsbad, NM; 37 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Arthur Armendariz, Brenda Corona, Vakik Armendariz, Marito Danny Armendariz, Sylvester Rueda, III, Arturo Rueda, Jr., Mark Calanche and Joe Rueda, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be all the other grandchildren.
