Marcus P. Perez

Marcus P. Perez, 29, of Utah Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away September 21, 2010 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM, Sunday, September 26, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, September 27, 2010, 2:00 PM, at River of Life Church with Pastor Ramon V. Florez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Marcus P. Perez was born February 18, 1981 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1999. Marcus joined the US Marines after graduation and served his country until 2006. He worked for FLETC and later at the Eddy County Detention Center. Most recently he was working for Pate Trucking. Marcus enjoyed coaching in the National League where he coached the Little League Major Mets. He was a dedicated Indianapolis Colts fan. Most importantly, Marcus loved spending time with his family and was especially excited about he and Christlyn expecting their first baby. He is survived by his fianc, Christlyn Tavarez of Carlsbad, NM; mother, Alva Armendarez and husband, Jack of Carlsbad, NM; father, Andrew Perez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Andrew Perez, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; sister, Laura Perez and boyfriend, Mark Garcia of Carlsbad, NM; grandparents, Henry and Laila Anaya of Carlsbad, NM; great-grandmother, Leandra Vela of California; nieces: Essence Cunningham of Carlsbad, NM, Paityn Perez of Carlsbad, NM; nephew, Ethan Garcia of Carlsbad, NM; uncles: Sam Perez, Saul Montejano, Henry Anaya, Jr., Able Anaya; aunt, Priscilla Montejano and numerous cousins. Pallbearers will be Blanca Ornelas, Jacob Vigil, Chad Barnes, Mark Carrasco, Casey Tanner and Abel Anaya. Honorary pallbearers are Sam Perez and Saul Montejano and Henry Anaya.
