It is with great sadness that the family of Manuela “Mannie” Briones announces her passing. Mannie was born to Teclo and Angela Carrasco in Carlsbad, New Mexico on February 28, 1937. Mannie was a caregiver at heart and after raising her four children she emersed herself in the caregiving community. She worked as a child caretaker for four years before joining the Roswell Independent School System as a teaching assistant. After retiring from the Roswell Independent School System, she enjoyed providing private care to seniors.
Mannie was known for her fun-loving personality and enjoyed taking trips with her family, shopping, and going out to eat at restaurants. However, her greatest joy was playing with her great grandchildren and great, great grandchild. She was a faithful believer in Jesus Christ and was diligent in prayer and church attendance.
Manuela has a large and loving family and will be fondly remembered by children Sandra Rackers, Melinda and Barry Urquidez, Gerald Briones, and Delia Briones; her sisters Elidia Mathis and Velma Garcia; nieces Rosie Vasquez, Arlene Cooper, and Angela Garcia; nephews Ralph Garcia Jr., Stanley Brito and many, many more; grandchildren Amy Briones, Aleja Thatcher, April Briones, Candice Sims, Annette Briones, Brian Urquidez, Brianna Briones, and Clarice Briones; great grandchildren Shyann Thatcher, Harley Deason, Erynn Lopez, Dakota Thatcher, Larry Justice, Cleya Thatcher, Dawson Urquidez, Gavin Urquidez, David Thatcher, Daniel Thatcher, Lily Thatcher, Judah Sims, and Jonah Sims; great, great grandchildren Harper Deason and Jasper Glenn Williams.
Mannie is preceded in death by her parents Teclo and Angela Carrasco, her son Larry Frank Briones, and brothers Augustine, Ruben, and Joe Carrasco.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 16th, 2:00pm. at St. Edward Catholic Church.
