Manuel Dominquez Valdez, 60, of West Cottonwood, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at his home. Visitation will be Friday, June 24, 2011 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Elder Roque Soltero, officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Manuel Dominquez Valdez was born March 18, 1951 in Loving, New Mexico to Merejildo S. and Benustina (Dominquez) Valdez. He attended Loving and Carlsbad Schools, graduating in 1970. Manuel married Bernadina Esquibel in March 1970. He was employed by GTE, Valor and Windstream, retiring after 31 years of service. He enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. Manuel will be missed dearly. He was a faithful and active member of the Spanish Congregation of Testigos de Jehovah. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Bernie Valdez of Loving, New Mexico; three children: Manolito M. Valdez and wife, Marianne of Carlsbad, NM, Veronica Chavez and husband, Marcos of Castroville, Texas, Stephanie Martinez and husband, Jason of Loving, New Mexico; eight grandchildren: Arien Chavez, Jasmine Woolf, Jarred Valdez, Abdiel Chavez, Alyssa Woolf, Candace Martinez, Jevin E. Valdez, Jason Martinez, Jr.; four brothers: Frank Valdez and wife, Yolanda, Joe Valdez, Ricky Valdez and wife, Sherri, Jesus Valdez and wife, Rosemary; one sister, Cindy Gomez. Pallbearers will be Javier Quezada, Jason Martinez, Daniel Valdez, Gabriel Martinez, Marxs Valdez, Marcos Chavez, Jarred Valdez and Abdiel Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Jevin Valdez and Jason Jr. Martinez. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
