Manuel V. Quintela, 84, former resident, passed away September 1, 2010 at Ft. Bayard Medical Center in Ft. Bayard, New Mexico.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, September 4, 2010, 2:30 PM, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.

Manuel V. Quintela was born February 7, 1926 in Loving, New Mexico to Candido and Andrea (Valenzuela) Quintela. He grew up in Loving. Manuel served his country during WWII. He was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife, Emilia Flores; son, Robert Quintela; brothers: Tomas V. Quintela, Timoteo V. Quintela, Ramon V. Quintela and sister, Alidia Q. Ornelas.
Survivors are his three sons: Richard Quintela and wife, Vera of Artesia, NM, Manuel Quintela, Jr. and wife, Matilda of Carlsbad, NM, Ray Quintela and wife, Marie of Littlefield, TX; daughter, Terri Estrada and husband, Vicente of Santa Fe, NM; brother, Bernabe V. Quintela; four sisters: Josefina V. Quintela, Andrea Q. Baca, Victoria V. Quintela, Arcadio V. Quintela; eight grandchildren: Ricky, Jr., Joshua and wife, Monique, Valerie and husband, Jose, Jason, Eric, Melissa, Roberto, Marissa; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
