Manuel "Manny" Nevarez, 66, of Presidio Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Vigil is scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2011, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Friday, July 15, 2011, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Manuel "Manny" Nevarez was born October 18, 1944 in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1964. Manny served in the National Guard. He sold insurance for American National Insurance for 10 years. Manny went to work at IMC and retired from Mosaic after 32 years of service. He was an avid sportsman and always was ready to help others. Manny always enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a member of San Jose Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carmen and Elvira Biscaino; son, Michael Nevarez and brother, Carmen Biscaino. Survivors are his son, Mark Nevarez and wife, Lori of Las Cruces, NM; three grandchildren: Erika Nevarez, Monika Nevarez, Nickolas Nevarez; brother Richard Juarez; Delora Elizonda; and extended family: Tony, Shawna, Paul, Shon, Jody, Christie, Emily, Ramon, Ramoncito, Jeanette, George, Jerzy, Jevan, Jaris and Jorri.
