Obituary
Manuel D. Duran, 84, of S. 4th Street, Loving, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home. Visitation will be 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Monday, February 26, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
A prayer service is scheduled for Monday, February 26, 2018, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, February 27, 2018, 1:00 PM, at Oasis Christian Fellowship with Pastor Danny Lee Duran officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Manuel D. Duran was born August 10, 1933 in Ft. Davis, Texas to Jose and Cecilia (Doporto) Duran. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Manuel enjoyed fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. He loved sports, especially watching football, baseball and boxing. Manuel was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Carla Renea Duran; grandson, Sergio M. Duran; brother, Joe Doporto; sisters: Delia Tena and Mary Duran.
Survivors are his wife, Carolina F. Duran of Loving, NM; children: Christina D. Urmston and husband, Daniel of Odessa, Texas, Jacob Lee Duran of Loving, NM, Cynthia D. Calderon and husband, Benny of Malaga, NM, Yolanda Dando and husband, Terry of Arlington, Texas, Tony Duran and wife, Grace of Carlsbad, NM, Sylvia Dominguez and husband, Hector of Carlsbad, NM, Emma Najera and husband, Peter of Carlsbad, NM, Mark Duran and wife, Sheena of Carlsbad, NM, Carmelita Duran of Houston Texas, Liz Balderama of Carlsbad, NM, Manuel Duran, Jr. of Carlsbad, NM and Michael Duran of Carlsbad, NM; 29 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters: Connie Leyva of Lovington, NM, Nancy Saldaa and husband, Alvaro of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Johnny Duran and wife, Vickie of Sierra Vista, Arizona and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Pallbearers will be Carlos Santana, Leonard Fuentez, Eddie Duran, Tommy Duran, Frankie Duran and Martin Joker Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers are Jose CheChe Castillo, Joe Gomer Hernandez and Daniel Urmston.
