Manuel D. Acedo, 76, of Center Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 25, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be Friday, March 30, 2012 from 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Vigil is scheduled for Friday, March 30, 2012, 7:30 PM at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 De Baca. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Saturday, March 31, 2012, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Loving Cemetery, Loving, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Manuel D. Acedo was born December 5, 1935 in Sonora, Mexico to Gumercido and Virginia (Gonzalez) Acedo. Manuel has lived in this area for the past 56 years. He worked as a brick layer and traveled where ever needed to do work. He was a very generous person and will be missed by everyone that knew and loved him. He loved the Lord, dancing, singing and sharing his life with everybody. He was a hard worker and was willing to help out when asked. He was a blessing to his grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Francisco, Jose, Angelico and sisters: Dolores, Maria de Jesus and Maria. Survivors are two brothers: Luis Aceves and wife, Rosa of Chihuahua, Mexico, Juan Aceves of Chihuahua, Mexico; sister, Bertha Alicia Aceves of Chihuahua, Mexico; companion, Mary Aragon of Carlsbad and her children: Larry, Rick, Bobby, Priscilla and husband, Jerry; 10 adopted grandchildren and 15 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Christopher Aragon, Jerry Joe Sierra, Steven Quintela, III, Edmin Granger, Edward Granger and Freddy Olivas. Honorary pallbearers will be Luis Aceves, Jr., Joe Jordan, Pilo Martinez, Frank Briones, Gilbert Quintela, Sr., Tomas Saiz, Frank Saiz, Ralph Pompa and Steve Quintela.
