Manuel "Manny" Acosta

Manuel “Manny” Acosta, Jr., 22, of Carlsbad, New Mexico passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022. Manny was born on August 5, 1999, in Carlsbad, NM to Manuel and Maria Acosta, Sr.

Visitation is scheduled from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2022, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel, followed by a Vigil at 6:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM Wednesday, March 9, 2022, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Juan Carlos Ramirez officiating. Interment will be at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Manny was a bright and beautiful soul. He easily made friends wherever he went, and was loved by them all. He enjoyed traveling to new places, and exploring along the way. Manny loved music. He was a drummer for Carlsbad High School and UNM marching band.  He was loving son and brother and a caring individual with a smile that could light up the room. Manuel was funny and could make anyone laugh. He was active and liked to exercise and lift weights. Manny liked to visit beaches and enjoyed nature and going camping. He loved his friends and family members. He will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Manny was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Solidad Acosta; and maternal grandparents, Julian and Angela Vargas.

Manny is survived by his parents, Manuel and Maria Acosta, Sr.; three siblings: Angelica Acosta and Keith Hernandez of Carlsbad, NM; Jeremiah Manuel Acosta of Albuquerque, NM; and Joseph Isaiah Acosta of Carlsbad, NM; two nieces: Alicia Hernandez and Amelia Hernandez; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
