Malachi Ryan Lewis Villegas, 24, of Hidalgo Road, Carlsbad, NM passed away Monday, August 8, 2016 at his home. There will be no visitation; cremation has taken place. A memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, August 11, 2016, 2:00 PM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jimmy Tarvin officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Malachi Ryan Lewis Villegas was born July 20, 1992 in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Pueblo West High School in Pueblo, Colorado. Malachi served his country in the US Army over three years, serving in the airborne unit. He returned to Carlsbad in 2015 and went to work for BDS Enterprise. Malachi enjoyed snow boarding, fishing and playing golf. He never turned down the opportunity to be with his family and truly loved being with them. Malachi was always the one to step up and help in any way he could. He will be remembered by his infectious smile. Malachi was preceded in death by his grandfather, Phillip Lewis. Survivors are his mother, Camille Barnes and husband, Louie of Carlsbad, NM; father, Sam Villegas and wife, Shannon of Roswell, NM; step-father, Richard Koetting of Pueblo, CO; step-mother, Tina Saiz of Carlsbad, NM; siblings: Zachary Koetting of Pueblo, Colorado, Catherine Koetting of Carlsbad, NM, Richelle Lopez and husband, Patrick of Carlsbad, NM, RaeLynn Buendia of Carlsbad, NM, Michael Barnes of Carlsbad, NM; step-brother, Skyler Henson of Carlsbad, NM; step-sister, Sage Henson of Carlsbad, NM, grandparents, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
