Magdalena "Mollie" P. Briones

Magdalena P. "Mollie" Briones, 94 of West Pierce Street, passed away peacefully Monday, November 2, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home. There will be no visitation. Vigil Services are scheduled for 6:00 PM, Friday, November 6, 2009, at San Jose Catholic Church, 1002 DeBaca Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, October 7, 2009 at San Jose Catholic Church with Father Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating. Interment will follow in Santa Catarina Cemetery. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com Molly was born in Carlsbad, NM on July 22, 1915 to Francisco and Clara Z. Pompa. She was raised in Carlsbad, where she touched many in her working life as a waitress and cook. She was a loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be deeply missed by those she touched with her love of cooking and baking. She always had a hug, a touch, a "God bless you and keep you." A simple hello, but it will be her big smile she will be remembered by so many. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Virginia Benividez; mother and father, and grandson, Larry Briones. She is survived by her children: son, Frank Briones and wife, Rosa of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Emma Padilla and husband, Richard of Santa Fe, NM; brother, Gilbert Pompa of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Flavia Sloan of Carlsbad, NM, Erminia McKenna of Albuquerque, NM and Margaret Ward of Texas; eleven grandchildren: Rick and wife, Missy, Melissa and husband, George, Carla and husband, Alex, Marsha and husband, Brian, Sandra, Melinda and husband, Barry, Gerald, Rachael and husband, Mark, Vicki, Jose and wife, Ashley, Delia; 31 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; special nieces and nephews and many friends and her loving caregivers from Lakeview Christian Home.
