Madge Weise

Madge Weise, 95, of West Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away June 10, 2010 at Lakeview Christian Home. Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Sunday, June 13, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, June 14, 2010, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dean Coonradt officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Madge Weise was born June 10,1915 in Merkel, Texas to James S. and Mary Ann (Jones) Bailey. She moved to Alto, NM as a young baby with her family. Madge married Sam Weise on February 6, 1932 in Roswell. They moved to Carlsbad in 1936. She had a great love for children. Over a 20-year period, Madge and Sam kept 212 foster children. Many of whom became family. Madge had many hobbies some of which were talking on the CB radio, quilting, oil painting and entertaining. She was known as the "Garden Queen" to her CB friends. Madge was a member of First Church of the Nazarene, where she was very involved. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Weise; infant daughter, Dora Fay Weise; grandson, Sammy Weise and numerous brothers and sisters. She is survived by two sons: Marvin J. Weise of Carlsbad, NM, Floyd Weise and wife, Jan of Carlsbad, NM; two daughters: Amelia Capell of Carlsbad, NM Doris Stowe and husband, Jerry of Carlsbad, NM; 16 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters: Virginia Bailey, Mary Stoops and Ruth Crary all of California and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Asa Weise, Curtis Economides, Ronnie Laughlin, Marvin Weise, Jr., Glen Crawfird and Don Fisher. Honorary pallbearers are all foster children and great-grandchldren. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene, 1010 West Fox Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220 in order to memorialize Madge at the Bonita Park Nazarene Church Camp.
