Lynnette Walker

Lynnette Walker, 59, of Walker Farm Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, November 3, 2014 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, November 6, 2014, 2:00 PM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Brian McGonagill officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lynnette Walker was born March 18, 1955 in El Paso, Texas to Billy Joe and Ethel Mae (Backer) Douglas. She attended school in El Paso and Carlsbad. Lynnette married Billy Walker on December 30, 1972 here in Carlsbad. During Billy's stent in the US Navy they lived in Long Beach, California, Naples, Italy and May Port, Florida before returning to New Mexico in 1975. Billy and Lynnette later lived in Houston, TX, El Paso, TX and returned to Carlsbad in 1982. Lynnette received a degree in nursing from NMSU-C and became a registered nurse in 1988. She worked at Lakeview Christian Home as Director of Nursing until 1995 and retired to spend time with her grandchildren. Lynnette enjoyed bowling, dancing, vacationing and camping with her kids and grandkids. She always looked forward to dinner out with the "Tuesday Crew." She was preceded in death by her mother, Ethel Douglas. Survivors are her husband, Billy Walker of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Tessa Cisneros of Carlsbad, NM, Missy Carter and husband, Jay of Carlsbad, NM, Leeah Risher and husband, Jeff of Carlsbad, NM; son-in-law, Tony Cisneros; father, Bill Douglas of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: Austin Walker Risher, Tiersa Cisneros, Ashley McKean, Zack Putman, Tyson Cisneros, Cambree Carter, Gus Risher, Jayden Carter; and sister, Darlene Douglas of Carlsbad, NM. Pallbearers will be Marvin Walker, Steve Walker, Dale Hood, Mike Suggs, Billy Sherrell and Don Owen.
