Lylden "Bud" King, 70, of North Eddy Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, went to be with our Lord March 14, 2011. There will be no visitaiton, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service is scheduled for Thursday, March 17, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Carlsbad Cemetery with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lylden "Bud" King was born August 30, 1940 to Lester and Daisy Belle (Hazelwood) King in Clovis, New Mexico. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1958. Bud served his country in the US Navy during Vietnam. After moving to Carlsbad, he went to work at IMC as an electrician. Bud later moved to Gillette, Wyoming, where he was employed at ARCO openpit coal mining, until retiring in 1999. Bud recently moved back to Carlsbad to enjoy time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion, Post #7 and Post #42 of Gillette, Wyoming. Bud was also a member of the Moose Lodge # 1957 in Gillette and the C.A.R.S. of Carlsbad. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by two daughters: Gayla White of Carlsbad, NM, Melissa Walterscheid and husband, Phillip of Carlsbad, NM; four grandchildren: Kimberlie Walterscheid Ward of Carlsbad, NM, Tyler White and wife, Ashley of Silver City, NM, Sammie Jo White and fiance, Dre of Carlsbad, NM, Joshua Walterscheid and fianc, Tasha of Carlsbad; three great-grandchildren: Tyson Hochstein, Gavin Ward and Blake Ward; brother, John Barnard and wife, Betty of Alamo, TX, sister, Lynda Milburn and husband, George of Clovis, NM and his dear friends from Wyoming. Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill McCroskey, Gary Sutphin, LeRoy Marzett, John Klein, John Harvey, Sam Rodriguez, Mickey Glenn, Arne Anderson, Tommy Kastreba, Bob Williams, Larry Casteel, Mel and Joyce. Memorial contributions may be made to Carlsbad Battered Family Shelter, P.O. Box 2396, Carlsbad, NM 88221-2396. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
