Lydia was born April 28, 1956 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to David and Rosa Romo Pedroza. She was the 8th of their 13 children. She loved being part of a large family. She was raised in Carlsbad and attended the Carlsbad Public Schools.
Lydia married Julian Fuentes February 20, 1974; they were married for 33 years. Lydia worked hard to care for their 5 children. She was an industrious mother and wife. Lydia enjoyed cooking, sewing and making gifts for her family. She was a great cook and loved to host large extended family gatherings. She also worked hard outside of the home to contribute to the family's needs. She was a long term employee for both the New Mexico State Taxation and Revenue Department and CARC, Inc. She was saddened that her illnesses no longer allowed her to care for her beloved residents of CARC. Lydia had a big heart and a willing spirit to help anyone that she could. She was an active member of San Jose Church; and spent much time with her loving church family. Lydia loved her newly found volunteer assignment as a Head Start "Grandma". Lydia was preceded in death by her father, whom she loved very much and 6 sisters. Survivors include her mother, Rosa Pedroza and her children, Julian P. and Cindy Fuentes III, Peter and Juliana Rivas, Eli and Julie Porraz, Julius Fuentes, Juliette Fuentes and Scott Duskey. Lydia's large family continues with her many grandchildren: Julian "Smiley" Fuentes IV, Jolleen Audriana Fuentes, Ramon Romero, Angelica Gonzales, Victoria Padilla, Rojelio Romero, Aracely Romero, Margerita Romero, Xochietl Romero, Angela Rivas, Chey Ann Rivas, Esperanza Rivas, AJ Rivas, Diego Porraz, Bria Fuentes, Lleleyna Fuentes, D'Layno Fuentes, Xaen Miller, BrightN Miller and Darthius Duskey.
