Lydia M. Castillo

Lydia M. Castillo, 92, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2022, in El Paso, TX. Lydia was born on July 14, 1929, in Carlsbad, NM to Eulalio and Rita Castillo. 

There will be no visitation, and a graveside service is scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 4, 2022, at the Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM with Pastor Nick King officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. 

Lydia was a lifelong resident of Carlsbad. She raised her family of nine children, and loved spending time with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She had a beloved dog named Tiny that she always kept near her. She will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Lydia was preceded by her father, Eulalio Castillo; mother, Rita Castillo; husband, Elutrio Ortega; three children: Melody Castillo, Edward Castillo, and Hazel Castillo; and eight siblings: Salvador Castillo, Abel Castillo, Consuelo Reese, Mary Montano, Esther Sarabia, and Elvira Carrasco.

Lydia is survived by her six children: Jim Sanchez of Presidio, TX; Rudy Castillo and wife, Jolanda of Carlsbad, NM; Tim Briones of Loving, NM; Leroy Duran of Arizona; Irene Ramirez and husband, Manuel of Carlsbad, NM; Martha Huddleston of North Carolina; 22 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
