Luis H. Lovis, 80, of Nelson Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, November 2, 2012 at his home.
There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place.
Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, November 8, 2012, 10:30 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Valentine Jankowski, OFM, Conv. officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Luis H. Lovis was born on June 10, 1932, in Marfa, Texas, to Alfonso and Martha (Hinojos) Lovis. He served his country in the US Navy during WWII. Luis married Mary Torres in June of 1961. He owned and operated Lovis Construction in Artesia for many years. Luis and Mary moved to Carlsbad after retiring. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family. Luis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Phil Lovis.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Lovis of Carlsbad, NM; children: Priscilla Medrano of Carlsbad, NM, Mark Lovis of Oakland, California, Erica Liles and husband, Craig of Artesia, NM; grandchildren: Kali and Hali Moreno, Bryant Liles and wife, Shanna, Mackenzie Medrano, Cameron Liles, Alexa Lovis; great-grandchildren: Christopher Martinez, Jayden Moreno, Anthony Aldas; sisters: Beatrice Branson, Celia Castaneda, Mary Navarette; step-sisters: Grace Escobedo, Jeri Walker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
