Lucille Miller, a 70 year resident of Carlsbad, NM passed away Monday, July 15, 2013 at Good Life Assisted Living at the age of 93. She was born in Hamilton County, Texas and grew up on a farm near Hico, Texas. She graduated from High School in Fairy, Texas and was married to Ray "Lefty" Miller for 63 years until his death in 2004. Her parents were Willis Fannin Herricks and Ella Baker Herricks. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Essie Herricks Wright and two brothers: Cecil Herricks and Chock Herricks.
She is survived by two sons: Jack Miller and his companion, Barbara McFall both of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Mickey Miller and his wife, Sally of Carlsbad, NM; three grandchildren: Kurt Miller of Carrolton, TX, Cheryl Moore-Ortiz and husband, Leno of Santa Fe, NM and Russell Moore of Medenales, NM; four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lucille was known by her friends and family for her wonderful sense of humor, her infectious laugh and her practical jokes. She drove a school bus for 27 years in Carlsbad. Lucille loved to square dance, play 42 with friends and play games and cards with her grandchildren. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics and arts and crafts.
Lucille was cared for by Anna Gomez and the other wonderful people at Good Life Assisted Living. The last three years of her life having Alzheimers disease prevented her from living at home.
Services are scheduled for 10:00 am, Friday, July 19, 2013 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery in Carlsbad, NM. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
