Lucille C. Rhoades

Lucille C. Rhoades, 88, of North Oak Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no visitation, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2011, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor David Prell officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lucille C. Rhoades was born November 4, 1922 in Kingsport, TN to Everett and Anise (Starnes) Carter. She lived in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Maryland for a significant part of her life. Lucille worked for Sun Trust Bank and retired in 1990. She moved to Carlsbad in 2002 with her daughter and family. Lucille was an avid reader and was very independent. She cherished her dog "Booboo". She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Amanda; sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Bill Chafin. Survivors are two daughters: Amy L. Malara of Carlsbad, NM, Susan Pearce and husband, Ralph of Bradford, PA; son, John B. Rhoades and wife, Lynn of Amhurst, OH; five grandchildren: Jennifer, Stephanie, Jodi, Kim and David; three great-grandchildren: Anna, Cole and Adam; niece, Linda; nephews: Jim and Kevin.
