Louise Stagner Wilson, 83, of Carlsbad, NM, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Landsun Homes Health Services Center. She was surrounded by her family. Louise was born April 27, 1930, in Carlsbad, NM to James W. and Leona Louise (Allinger) Stagner. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1948. Louise received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona in 1952, and her Master's degree from the University of Phoenix. She loved teaching and taught in the Carlsbad Public Schools for 33 years and at NMSU-Carlsbad. Though she retired more than a decade ago, Louise remembered her students fondly, often pointing out a grown man or woman and saying that she "taught that girl to type" or "that boy was a cut up in class but he sure was bright." Louise was an active member of PEO Chapter A and First United Methodist Church. She also volunteered with the hospital auxiliary at Carlsbad Medical Center. Louise is survived by son, Jim Wilson and wife, Glynda of Kansas City, MO; daughters: Alice Wilson of Schlossborn, Germany, Dena Wilson of Dallas, TX, Mary Gonzales and husband, Fermin of Roseville, CA; her sister, Mary Walker of Carlsbad NM; grandchildren: Trey Bechtold and wife, Alexis, Sean Bechtold and wife, Adrianne, Keeley Muncrief, Kourtney Vaillancourt and husband, Steve, Byrren Gonzales, Ramie Gonzales, Matthew Gonzales, Lilly Gonzales; great-grandchildren: Megan and Colt Bechtold, Mason Muncrief, Etienne and Emerick Vaillancourt; nieces: Mary Lou Leavell and Deanna Mortara; nephews: Jim Walker and John Walker. She was preceded in death by her parents. Private services were held at Carlsbad Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacramento Methodist Assembly, P.O. Box 8, Sacramento, NM 88347-0008 or First United Methodist Church-Building Fund, 207 N. Halagueno Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
