Louis Vigil, 95, of West Blodgett Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away March 11, 2013 at his home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, March 23, 2013, 2:00 PM, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witness-English Congregation with Dean Cruse officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Louis Vigil was born February 13, 1918 in Van Horn, TX to Demetrio and Manuela (Porraz) Vigil. He moved to Carlsbad as a young boy with his family. Louis married Celia Chacon in 1937. He started work at Holsum Baking Company at the age of 13 where he worked over 30 years. Louis went to work for Collin Gerrells and later Dunlap's until retiring at the age of 90. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Celia Vigil; 2 brothers and 4 sisters.
Survivors are his daughter Dora Vigil-Morales and husband, John of Carlsbad, New Mexico and Frances Vigil of Carlsbad, New Mexico; son Joe Edward Vigil and wife, Connie of Walnut Creek, CA; eight grandchildren: Kathy McCarrell, Ralph Morales, Dolores Vigil, Louis Edward Vigil, Sammy Vigil, Joe Vigil, Jr., Cheryl Vigil and Monica Vigil; six great-grandchildren; seven great great-grandchildren; sisters: Rosalda Lopez of Phoenix, AZ and Aurora Whitten of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews.
