Lorraine Chavez was born October 6, 1990, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to David Joseph and Margarita (Franco) Chavez. Lorraine graduated from Loving High School and received her Associates degree from NMSU-C. She was employed by the Bureau of Land Management as a student intern. Among other things Lorraine was a fashionista at heart, loved to play sports, but most importantly was truly a kind and gentle soul. She was always laughing and making others laugh with her crazy self, and would never hesitate to make a stranger feel welcomed. The love of Lorraine's life came with the birth of her son, Zachary. As Lorraine quoted in her Facebook, "My body isn't magazine perfect but when I look in the mirror I see a momma, and there is no greater honor or blessing." Lorraine now spends her time up in heaven with the Lord, where she will watch over all her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Selzo and Filomena Chavez and Alfredo and Manuela Franco. Survivors are her son, Zachary Ramirez of Carlsbad, NM; parents: David and Rita Chavez of Carlsbad, NM; siblings: Gabriel Chavez and wife, Cindy of Andrews, TX, Monica Chavez and husband, Chris Carlson of Aurora, CO, Jeremy Chavez and wife, Veronica of Rio Rancho, NM, Angelica Chavez, and Elizabeth Chavez of Carlsbad, NM and 12 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers are Anthony Chavez, Nicholas Brown, Matthew Jojola, Daniel Calderon, Robert Gomez and Stevie Chavez. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that you make a donation to her son Zachary's college fund.
