Obituary Lorenzo Lencho M. Martinez, 61, of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland, Texas. Visitation will be 4:00 PM 7:00 PM, Monday, March 5, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for 7:00 PM, Monday, March 5, 2018 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at San Jose Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Cordero officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lorenzo Lencho M. Martinez was born August 7, 1956 in Carlsbad, NM. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1974. Lencho was a member of the Cavemen wrestling team. He worked at various potash mines for over 15 years. Lencho coached baseball and wrestling. His passion was slow pitch softball and playing for the Renegades. He was also passionate about chess and taught his grandchildren how to play. Lencho was preceded in death by his son, Adrian Lorenzo Martinez; father, Roman Martinez; mother, Marcelina Soto; brother, Angel Martinez; sister, Laila Anaya. Survivors are his sons: Raynaldo Martinez and wife, Monica of Loving, NM, Alonzo J. Martinez of Midland, Texas, Jimmy J. Martinez and Seth I. Martinez, both of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Rica Onsurez and Amiee Martinez, both of Carlsbad, NM and April Martinez of Stockton, California; brothers: Tino Martinez and wife, Juanita of Jarales, NM, Roman Martinez Jr. of Carlsbad, NM; sisters: Mary Dominguez of Carlsbad, NM, Rosa Fierro and husband, David of Carlsbad, NM, Lilly Bell of Topeka, Kansas, Corina Linhart and husband, Steve of Longbeach, California. Pallbearers will be Donald Martinez, Bobby Dominguez, Sonny Martinez, David Fierro, Jr., Henry Anaya, Jr., Anthony Corrales and Bernard Martinez.
