Lorenza Elena "Helen" Fisher, 66, of Concord Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, August 13, 2012 at Carlsbad Medical Center. There will be no public visitation. A Memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 10:00 AM, at First United Methodist Church with Jan Walterscheid, Floyd Fisher and Darwin Warner, officiating. Private interment was held in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lorenza Elena "Helen" Fisher was born August 10, 1946 in Alamogordo, NM to Claude and Ida (Walters) Holguin. She graduated from Alamogordo High School in 1964 and attended Eastern New Mexico University, later finishing her degree from College of the Southwest in 2000. Lorenza married Donald G. Fisher on February 4, 1967 in Alamogordo, NM and moved to Carlsbad later that year. She was devoted to her husband and children. She was always involved in their education, sports, activities and spiritual lives. Lorenza worked with her sister-in-law, Helen Rogers, for many years at Cottage Preschool. She was an active member of First Church of the Nazarene, Christian Women's Club and many prayer groups. Lorenza's life was mostly known for her dedication to the Lord Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ernest Baca. Survivors are her husband, Don G. Fisher; son, Larry Fisher and wife, Shelley of Singapore; two daughters: Cristina Goodwin and husband, Darin of Larned, KS, Claudette Stevenson and husband, Jeremy of Olathe, KS; 9 grandchildren: Karis, Sage, Sierra, Isaac, Zachary, Elizabeth, Naomi, Jacob and Chloe; two brothers: Alfred Baca, Clay Holguin; sister, Diana Holguin Balogh.
