Obituary Lorena Sisk, 75, died on Thursday, May 31, 2018, at her home in Carlsbad, New Mexico surrounded by her loving family and friends. Her strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, and friends, carried her through the months long battle. Lorena was born on October 26, 1942 in Carlsbad, New Mexico to James and Manuela (Lujan) Sloan. Known for her work ethics and ability to teach others the importance of hard work and commitment, is exhibited by the friends that continued to seek her advice. Throughout her life she maintained a kind and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter, will never be forgotten. After completing her education from Carlsbad High School and working as a food industry manager and business owner, she met her sweetheart, Harold Sisk. The couple was married on February 14, 1987 in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Married for 31 years, Lorena & Harold loved their blended children, Linda, Tammy, Leslie, and Cory. A woman of faith and the heart of the family, Lorena shaped their lives by her tireless work example, long talks and through her involvement in their activities. With a zest for life, Lorena loved to dance, travel, spend time with family, pray, fish, play games especially with her brothers, sisters, daughters, son and grandsonjust to name a few. Her surviving family members are numerous, but mainly include her husband of 31 years, Harold Sisk; children: Linda Wilson and husband Clay, Tammy Hawley and husband Greg, Leslie Sisk, and Cory Warren and wife Erica; grandchildren: Hunter Warren, Wyatt Warren, and Emmarie Warren; brother, Jesse Sloan and wife Joyce, sister, Lavern Johnson and husband Terry. Special friends and caregivers: Priscilla, Mary, Sylvia, Patsy, Isabell, Nansi Ikard, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews whom she dearly loved. Lorena was preceded in death by her father, James Sloan; mother, Manuela Sloan; sister, Lucy Tidwell; brother, James Sloan Jr. and sister, Linda Jean Sloan. There will be a visitation at Denton-Wood Funeral Home on Friday, June 1, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Memorial services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, June 2, 2018 at First United Methodist Church with Pastor Dan Boyd officiating. Private interment will take place. Pallbearers are Clay Wilson, Greg Hawley, Terry Johnson, Grant Mabrey, Ty Tidwell and Hunter Warren. Lorena always lived by the Golden Rule; treat others the way you would like to be treated. She often times showed loving acts of kindness, made someone laugh, sent a card, gave a hug, or said, I love you". The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, visits and heart-felt support from too many people to name individually, including hospice, the amazing caregiver teams and friends.
