Lorena D. Mata, 65, of W. Fox Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at her home. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, February 14, 2016 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2016, 7:00 PM at San Jose Catholic Church. Mass of Christian Burial scheduled for Monday, February 15, 2016, 10:00 AM, at San Jose Catholic Church with Deacon Tony Dominguez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Lorena D. Mata was born October 9, 1950 in Carlsbad, NM to Perfecto R. and Elpida (Miramontez) Duran, Sr. She married Joe G. Mata, Sr. Lorena never turned down the opportunity to be with her family and the door was always open for family and friends. She was always faithful in her spiritual walk. Lorena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joe G. Mata, Sr.; daughter, Christina Mata; grandson, Jacob Richard Pedroza and brother, Bobby Duran, Sr. Survivors are her sons: Joe I. Mata, Jr. and wife, Elsia, Richard Mata and wife, Delma, Jacob Pedroza and wife, Crystal; grandchildren: Ysable, Jazzmine, Elizabeth and Jacob, Jr.; siblings: Larry Duran, Sr. and wife, Rosie, Perfecto Duran, Jr. and wife, Lena, Linda Sonora and husband, Higinio, Jerry Duran, Sr. and wife, Sylvia and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jacob Pedroza, Sr., Thomas Duran, Sr., Perfecto Duran, III, Jerrald Sonora, Robert Duran, Jr. and Jerry Zachary Duran, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews and grandchildren.
