Lois Briggs, 90, of Irvin Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 10, 2009 at Lakeview Christian Home.
Visitation will be 1:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Monday, December 14, 2009 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home.
Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 15, 2009, 2:00 PM, at Paradise Chapel, 74 Pueblo Road with Pastor D. Michael Lee and Pastor Jason Briggs officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Lois Briggs was born March 17, 1919 in Eastland, Texas to Jessie Benjamin and Palistine (Jones) Johnson. She grew up in Texas until the age of 14. Lois moved with her family to New Mexico and later to Roswell in 1933. She married Denva Briggs on June 1, 1936 in Roswell. She worked in various pharmacies in Roswell and later at the Salvation Army. After she retired, Lois moved to Carlsbad in 1994. She volunteered with Hospice and enjoyed visiting residents at Lakeview and Landsun. The family would like to thank all of Lois' caregivers from Coordinated Care, especially Sylvia and Norma. They would also like to thank her devoted senior companion, Alveda Carrasco. Lois loved her children, grandchildren and church family and was always devoted to serving our Lord. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Denva E. Briggs; two infant sons; one grandson; four brothers; one sister and son-in-law, Derald Lee and three infant great-grandsons.
She is survived by four sons: Lloyd Briggs and wife, Rose of Goodyear, AZ, Wylie Briggs of Roswell, NM, David E. Briggs and wife, Gloria of Phoenix, AZ, Hershel Briggs and wife, Pat of Buckeye, AZ; two daughters: June Lee of Carlsbad, NM, Linda Carver and husband, Joe of Jacksonville, FL, 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren and special niece, Carline Cozark.
Pallbearers will be Randy Lee, Mike Lee, Ronnie Lee, Wylie Briggs, Jr., Scott Briggs and Casey Carver. Honorary pallbearers are Kyle Dean Briggs, Jody Allen Briggs and Troy Brent Briggs.
