Linda Kay Phillips

Linda Kay Phillips, age 64, of Carlsbad, NM died on March 26, 2011 at Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, NM. Linda was born in Carlsbad, NM on September 25, 1946 to Vernon and Wyllie Bell (Knight) Marrs. There will be no services at this time. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Linda was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She married her best friend, Raleigh (RV) Phillips on March 19, 1963. Soon after she yearned to be a mother, but not until six years later did her and Raleigh have Randy, and in quick succession came Vicky and soon to follow were the twins, Jennie and Kenneth. She would often lightheartedly kid that she cried and cried for children and then cried and cried after she had them. Imagine a young woman with a four year old, a three year old, and infant twins, though never a complaint could be heard, she dearly loved her children and remains an everlasting pillar of strength for them. Not only did Linda love her children, her heart and home were the safe haven for many foster children throughout the years. To know Linda and Raleigh was to know what true love was and is. They shared 48 years of love, sorrow, joy, heartache, triumph and pain. Best friends, husband and wife, father and mother, Nana and Papa, Linda and Raleigh embodied all the wonderful qualities all those titles represent. Many an hour of playful banter was part of the Phillip's home with Linda and Raleigh at the reigns of such. Memories of water hose fights, baseball, softball, annual family deer hunting trips, fishing and games of Farkle abound. Linda loved all animals and had a way with them that was most remarkable. Linda was an accomplished dog groomer and took pride in her business and the care she provided to the many dogs she groomed over the years. She inspired with her gentleness, kind heart and resilience. Her smile and bright blue eyes will not be soon forgotten. Linda is survived by her husband, Raleigh (RV) Phillips and their four children and their families: son and daughter-in-law, Randy and Angela Phillips, grandchildren, Shaylie Phillips, Caleb Phillips, Logan Phillips, David Solano, Sarah Solano, Jesse Solano and Olivia Alexander; daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Mike Lee, grandchildren, Jessica Lee and Mika Lee; daughter and son-in-law, Jennie and Twister Lewis, grandchildren Seven Lewis and Teddra Lewis; son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Carolyn Phillips, their children, KyLen Phillips, Destinie Anderson, Holly Anderson, John Ross Anderson, Rebekah Anderson and Josiah Anderson, great grandchild, Victoria Elizondo; foster daughter, Kathy Benavidez. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters and their families: brother, Victor Marrs; brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Mary Ann Marrs; sister and brother-in-law, Marynell and Jim Williamson and sister, Janice Krieger. She is further survived by countless friends and family. Linda was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Marion and Tommy Marrs; her sister-in-law, Jane Marrs (Victor's wife) and nephew, Brian Marrs (son of Charles and Mary Ann Marrs).
