Linda L. Carlsen-Sloan, 59 of Valley Springs, California, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2011 of heart failure while visiting relatives in Carlsbad, NM. A Private Prayer Service was held December 27, 2011 with Chaplain Andy Harris, officiating. Cremation has taken place and her remains will be placed to rest in Illinois on June 2, 2012. Denton-Wood Funeral Home was in charge of the local arrangements. Linda was born on June 2, 1952 in Charleston, SC, the daughter of the late Alfred E. Carlsen and Adella M. Renter-Carlsen. Linda became a Licensed Vocational Nurse after graduation and continued with her education and became a Registered Nurse in California in 1981. She continued her long nursing career until her retirement in 2009. She enjoyed intensive care nursing and her first assignment at University of California Irvine Medical Center and last assignment in charge of the ICU was Mark Twain Hospital in San Andreas Calaveras County, California. Linda's hobbies included traveling, crocheting, reading, gardening and recycling to ensure a safe environmental world for her beloved grandchildren. She was married to Dr. Timothy J. Sloan for 20 years and lived in Valley Springs, California. She is survived by her children: Katherine M. Sloan and Stephen A. Sloan of California, Robbie E. Deming of Florida. She was a cherished grandmother to Rosa M. Sloan, Alexander E. Sloan and Robert D. Deming, II. Also surviving are siblings: James A. Carlsen and wife, Jovita Munoz-Carlsen of Texas, Jane E. Carlsen-Esacove and husband, Paul Esacove and Michael E. Carlsen of California. Linda is gone but will never be forgotten. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
