Mrs. Lessie Nobles, 83, of Ferndale Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Tuesday, July 26, 2011 at her home.
There will be no visitation, cremation will take place.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, July 29, 2011, 2:00 PM, at Standpipe Baptist Church, 1701 Standpipe Road with Pastor Mark E. Devine officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Lessie Nobles was born September 12, 1927 in Salt Gap, Texas to Joe and Emma Lee (Teague) Russell. She graduated from Carlsbad High School with the class of 1943 at the age of 16. She married Clarence R. Nobles in 1958 and on February 7, 2011 they celebrated their 53rd anniversary. Lessie loved to travel and together they went coast to coast doing all facets of fishing. She owned a flower shop in Green River, Wyoming for 15 years and continued in the floral arrangement business part-time in the local shops here in Carlsbad. For the past few years, she has enjoyed the friendships that were made at the San Jose Senior Center. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Lawrence Bennett; son, Erny Bennett; sisters: Nila Bartlett and Ruby Windham.
Survivors are her husband, Clarence R. Nobles of Carlsbad, NM; 3 children: Jimmy Bennett and wife, Lidia of Carlsbad, NM, Carol Lowder of Carlsbad, NM; Richard Nobles and wife, Dottie of Green River, Wyoming; 5 grandchildren: Carl Bennett, Steve Bennett both of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Nikki Bickerstaff, Brady Bennett both of Carlsbad, NM, Lindsay Carpenter of Austin, Texas; 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
