Leslie Jean Melton

Leslie Jean Melton, 62, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the University Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Leslie was born on August 11, 1961, in Carlsbad, NM to Bob and Billie Melton.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2023, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Hillcrest Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park in Carlsbad, NM.

Growing up in Carlsbad, Leslie graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1979. She grew up holding true to her traditional values, giving honest and tough love, all while having the biggest heart for others. She always took people in, and added them to her family. Her children and grandchildren were her whole world, and she always had a vision for their futures. Leslie loved hosting friends and family at her house and cooking the most delicious meals for them. She also enjoyed gambling and going to the casinos, riding her Harley Davidson and teaching her grandkids how to ride, and running Leslie’s Antiques and Kennels. She loved her friends and family deeply, and she will be dearly missed.  

Leslie was preceded in death by her father, Bob Melton; and sister, Robbie Melton.

Leslie is survived by her four children all of Carlsbad, NM: Christy Post and husband, Jason, Erin Chavez, Wesley Campbell, and Brittany Cartwright and fiancé, Andreas Hochstein; bonus daughter, LaDawn Campbell of Carlsbad, NM; thirteen grandchildren: Nicholas (Alan), Logan, Jaslyn, Evelyn; Camden, Kai and their father, Steven Chavez; Eli, Tyson, Bryson, Jaxsin, Luther, Jasper, and Judah; mother, Billie Melton of Carlsbad, NM; two brothers: Gary Melton-Gray of Carlsbad, NM, and Randall Melton of Carlsbad, NM, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
