Obituary LeRoy Jay Olson, 76, of Albuquerque, NM, passed away Friday, June 19, 2020 at his home. Graveside services are scheduled for 2 PM, Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at Carlsbad Cemetery with Sam Plumlee officiating. LeRoy Jay Olson was born December 2, 1943 in Springer, NM. He was raised on ranch east of Springer, helping his dad develop the Santa Gertrudis cattle with the King Ranch in Texas and Greer Garson Ranch in NM using Shorthorn cattle and Brahman cattle. LeRoy graduated from Farley High School. He attended NM State University where he received a BA in Biology, BA in teaching Biology, and MA in teaching Science. LeRoy taught Biology, Life Science, General Science, Chemistry, Earth Science, Language Arts, and Special Education for 40 years. He taught 23 years in Raton, NM, teaching Earth Science and Language Arts at the Raton Middle School. LeRoy married Roselain Mary Wilkinson whom he met at NM State. He was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Nathaniel Olson; mother, Opal Olson; sisters: Helen Evans, Elmina Smith, Vera Clark, and Dawn Parrott; son: LeRoy J. Olson, Jr. LeRoy is survived by his wife, Roselain Mary Olson; daughter, Caroline Garcia and husband, Fred; son, Lawrence Olson; grandson, Asher Garcia and many nieces and nephews.
