Leroy Ewers, 88, of West Riverside Drive, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at his home.
There will be no public visitation.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, October 8, 2015, 10:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Eugene Thompson officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Leroy Ewers was born October 12, 1926 in Carlsbad, NM to Clifford and Ada (Crowley) Ewers. He graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1944 and went to work for the railroad. Leroy was drafted and served his country in the US Army during WWII. After being honorably discharged he went to work for PCA and was the youngest face boss and helped develop the continuous miner. Leroy and his family later opened El Patio which they owned and operated 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Kathie and two sisters.
Survivors are his wife, Norma Ewers of Carlsbad, NM; daughters: Karen Ewers of Austin, Texas, Kreina Ewers of Carlsbad, NM; 3 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers are Frank Huereque, Robert Castillo, Richard Adamson, Floyd Wiese and Bob Havel.
