LeRoy Crutcher, 71, of Prospect Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away December 6, 2010 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, December 10, 2010, 2:00 PM, at Hillcrest Baptist Church with Rev. Gerald Harden officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Carlsbad Veterans Honor Guard will provide military honors. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. LeRoy Crutcher was born May 10, 1939 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Herb and Velma (Havener) Crutcher. He moved to Carlsbad as a child with his family. LeRoy served his country in the US Air Force. He worked in the lumber business for many years, working in several lumber yards here in Carlsbad. In more recent years, LeRoy worked at Courtesy Pawn Shop. He had a love for motorcycles and hunting. LeRoy was a member of the Christian Motorcyclist Association serving as the local Chapter President. He was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors are his wife, Betty Crutcher; four children: Eddie Crutcher and wife, Liana of Tempe, AZ, Joe Crutcher and Rachel Crawford of Colorado Springs, CO, Debbie Jackson and husband, Michael of Escondido, CA, Robert Walker and wife, Brandi of Carlsbad, NM; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Gayle Moore and husband, Jerald of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Dennis Crutcher and wife, Jackie of Bryan, TX and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Pallbearers will be Ken Hargues, Buddy Lee, Don White, Les Higgins, Jim Kenney and Dennis Wheat. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Arney, Marcie Arney, Lori Hargues, Sandra Higgins, Luvena Bland, Francene Hoffman and Carol Wheat. Memorial contributions may be made to Portales Baptist Children's Home, P. O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
