Lela Fay Gibson, 103, of Pierce Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013 at Lakeview Christian Home. A local memorial service may be scheduled at a later date. Burial will be at Green Hill Cemetery, Muskogee, OK. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
Fay was born June 7, 1909, in Muskogee, OK, to James Monroe Seward and Mary Susan Weaver Seward. She was the 11th of 13 children. All have preceded her in death. She married James Arthur Cobb August 23, 1933, who preceded her in death in 1946. In 1948, she moved to Carlsbad, NM, where she taught one year at Craft Elementary School. She married Paul Gibson on June 23, 1949; he preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her step-son and daughter-in-law, Paul David and Betty Gibson. She was a member of Fox & Lake Church of Christ, Eastern Star # 54, CRMC Auxiliary, Sr Recreation Center, and several bridge clubs.
She is survived by granddaughter Ginnyren and husband Todd Willetts, of Richardson, TX; two great-grandsons, Taylor and Mitchell Willetts of Richardson, TX; grandson Paul Grant Gibson of Atlanta, GA and many nieces and nephews.
