Lee Luick Hubbard, 79, of Pike Drive, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, October 6, 2010 at his home.
Lee requested that cremation take place and that no public services be held.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Lee Luick Hubbard was born May 15, 1931 in San Diego, California to Burton William and Margaret Jean (Baker) Hubbard. He graduated from high school in Santa Anna, California. Lee received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Berkley University. He continued his education and attended several universities including Cambridge and eventually earning a Masters in Library Science. Lee served his country in the US Army. Lee married Shirley Lane on November 24, 1961 in Gate City, Virginia. They lived in a number of communities before moving to Carlsbad in 1978. Lee served as Librarian and Museum Curator for many years before retiring. He also taught several classes at NMSU-Carlsbad. Lee worked as a seasonal Park Ranger for two years at the Carlsbad Caverns. He thoroughly enjoyed history and science and was often found studying. Lee also loved classical music. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Hubbard of Carlsbad; three sons: Edward Hubbard and wife, Merissa of Mesa, AZ, Burton Hubbard of Carlsbad, NM, Charles Hubbard of Washington, PA; two granddaughters: Kirsty Hubbard, Michelle Hubbard and one great-granddaughter, Ava Lynn.
