Leah S. London, 86, of West Lea Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at Landsun Health Services Center.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, December 24, 2011, 11:00 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Steve London officiating.
Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Leah S. London was born April 28, 1925 at West Point Military Academy, New York to John Peter and Katie Viola (Smith) Newhard. She graduated high school in Highland Falls, New York. She married Donald G. London on September 21, 1964 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They moved to Carlsbad in 1965. She enjoyed gardening and canned and stored the yearly harvest. She enjoyed playing 42 (dominoes) and visiting with friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; three step-children; 2 brothers: Frank Newhard, Robert Newhard and 1 sister, Ellen Le Bleu.
Survivors are her husband, Donald London of Carlsbad, NM; daughter, Katherine Giersberg of Corrales, NM; step-son, Gus Giersberg and wife, Sallye of Missouri; 2 grandchildren: Kimberley Smith and husband, Brian of Arkansas, Tommy Brian Giersberg and wife, Sandi of Rio Rancho, NM; 4 great-grandchildren: T. J. Giersberg, Gineen Giersberg, Sean Carlson and Bubba Carlson.
Pallbearers will be Thomas London, Tim London, Scott London, Olin Smith, Mike Dodson and Johnny Caviness.
