Lavonne McGarry Neatherlin, 79, of Standpipe Road, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Friday, November 18, 2016 at her home, surrounded by her family. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM, Sunday, November 20 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, November 21, 2016 at Sunset Church of Christ with Mike Veilleux officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Canal Street, Carlsbad, NM 88220 Survivors are her sons: Jimmy Neatherlin and wife, Chris of Carlsbad, NM, Jeff Neatherlin and wife, Gentry of Carlsbad, NM, Joel Neatherlin and wife, Denise of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren: James Neatherlin, Michael Neatherlin and wife, Erin, Jamie, Riley, Chance Neatherlin, Jordan Graham and husband, Matt, Jeremy Neatherlin and Derick, Christopher and Juliet Symalla; great-grandchildren: Kodie and Hiram Neatherlin and Duke Graham; brother, Stanley McGarry and wife, Millie of Dayton, Nevada; sisters: Jackie Parker of Carlsbad, NM, Joyce Cox and husband, Kenny of Capitan, NM; foster child, Jerome Holyan Manulito and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Lavonne McGarry Neatherlin was born March 23, 1937 in Tyler, Texas to Jack Stanley and Pauline (Henson) McGarry. She graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1955. Lavonne met the love of her life, Jim Neatherlin, in the early 50s and they married March 31, 1956. Lavonne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed family gatherings, Sunday drives, swimming and painting. Lavonne was an active member of Sunset Church of Christ. She was a legal secretary over 20 years, working in several law firms but predominately for Dick Blendon. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Neatherlin and infant daughter, Jill Neatherlin. The family would like to thank the staff at Lakeview Christian Hospice along with Dawn, Donna and Michael for the love and care they gave Lavonne. Before Jim left this earth, he told Lavonne, "I'll meet you behind the moon..."
