LaVerne Carter Brown

LaVerne Carter Brown, 89, of Sioux Road, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Lakeview Christian Home. There will be no visitaiton, cremation will take place and private family services will be held at a later date. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. LaVerne Carter Brown was born July 9, 1925 in Seward, Nebraska to Joel Green and Effie Jane (Martin) Nelson. She graduated from high school in Seward, Nebraska in 1943. LaVerne was a long time resident of Carlsbad. She was an Avon representative for many years. LaVerne enjoyed playing Bunco. She was a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church and loved her church. LaVerne especially loved her family and her little dogs, Leroy Brown and Chico. She was preceded in death by her parents; step-grandson, Christopher Brown; 2 brothers and 3 sisters. Survivors are her son, Jerry D. Rogers and wife, Susan of Pegosa Spring, Colorado; daughter, Kathy Jo Hawkins and husband, Jamie of Carlsbad, NM; two step-daughters: Darlene Tyson and husband, C. W. of Shreveport, LA, Lillie Adams of Bastrop, LA; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Condolences may be expressed at dentonwood.com.
