Laura Lee Canion, 67, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at her home.
Laura was born on April 13, 1956, to Orman and Wanda Eggleston in Odessa, TX. She grew up in Carlsbad and went to Carlsbad High School. She worked in the photography developing business for years before starting her career in the construction business. There she focused on working as a team with her husband to bring people’s visions of their homes to life. She worked in this business for about 20 years until her husband fell ill and she decided to stay home to care for him. She was truly a hard worker and enjoyed what she did. Bringing smiles to others’ faces brought her immense joy. She loved being a “Grammy” to her “Grandbabies” and cherished making memories with her loved ones. She loved being in the mountains, playing games, watching movies, and spoiling her doggies, most of all she loved our God. It was this love for God and those around her that caused her to always have her loved one's best interest in mind with everything she did. It wasn’t just family or friends that she cared about either. There were many times she wouldn’t hesitate to help a stranger in need. She was and always will be loved by so many, rightfully so. She will be missed beyond what could be described.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; Orman and Wanda Eggleston; husband, Thomas Joe Canion and granddaughter, Jasmine Johnson.
Survivors include her daughter, Juwana Kinnibrugh; sons, Thomas Earl Johnson, Adam Laine Johnson; five grandchildren, Keiana Kinnibrugh, Karlee Kinnibrugh, Thomas Zane Johnson, Trae Johnson, Nolan Johnson; sisters, Jean Mobley and husband Larry, Brenda Counts and husband Randy; brother, Ricky Eggleston and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service is scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, November 11, 2023, at Denton Wood Funeral Home Chapel, with Jimmy Tarvin officiating.
