Larry Toombs

Larry Toombs, 52, of South 10th Street, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Covenant Medical Center, Lubbock, Texas. There will be no visitation, cremation will take place. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, January 18, 2014, 11:00 AM, at Sunset Church of Christ with Andy Burns officiating. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Larry Toombs was born on July 13, 1961, in Greenville, South Carolina to Elbert and Roena (Ragan) Toombs. He graduated from Clovis High School in 1979 and attended South Plains College in Lubbock, Texas. Larry married Margarita Vasquez January 30, 1999, here in Carlsbad. He worked as a wholesale food salesman for Ben E. Keith Foods for over 19 years. Larry enjoyed fishing and camping with his family. He also loved gardening and working around the house. Larry was a member of Sunset Church of Christ and B.P.O. Elks, Lodge #1558. He was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Toombs. Survivors are his wife, Margarita Toombs of Carlsbad, NM; sons: Aaron D. Toombs and Kaitie Patraw of Austin, Texas, Nathan Rodriguez and wife, Amanda of Malaga, NM; daughter, Kaitlyn Toombs of Carlsbad, NM; stepson: Robert Schnieder and wife, Kendra of Lubbock, Texas; stepdaughter: Rosalind Guimon and husband, Josh of Austin, Texas; mother: Roena M. Toombs of Shallowater, Texas; grandaughter, Giavonna Toombs and Gavin Guimon; sisters: Sherry Pittenger of Hubertus, WI and Martina Beaur of Edwall, WA.
