Kevin Jerome Patterson

Kevin Jerome Patterson, 51, of Tokay Avenue, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away February 2, 2012 at Covenant Hospital, Lubbock, Texas. Visitation will be Monday, February 6, 2012 from 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM Funeral services are scheduled for Monday, February 6, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Calvary Assembly of God Church, 1105 N. Pate Street, with Pastor Michael Lee and Pastor Phillip Price officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Kevin Jerome Patterson was born on January 6, 1961, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to Llwelyn Jerome and Marvel June (Williams) Patterson. During his high school years, Kevin was employed at McCausland Airport in Carlsbad and continued there for a time. He graduated from CHS in 1979. He was an over-the-road truck driver prior to his employment with Eddy County Road and Sign Department. He had 21 years of continued service until being forced to retire due to his illness. Kevin's hobbies included being a firearm enthusiast, avid hunter and fisherman, motorcycles, attending air shows and being around airplanes. He collected stunt kites. He was a true outdoorsman. He could fill the room with laughter and witty comments. He was loved and will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry and Marvel Patterson and brother-in-law, Jerry Williams. Survivors are his son, J. Shane Patterson and wife, Nikki of Carlsbad, NM; grandchildren, Brooklyn Patterson and Justin Patterson of Carlsbad, NM; mother of Shane, Charlene Garlick, and her children, Brit Garlick and Tiffany Garlick; sisters, Cheryl Williams of Las Vegas, NV, and Karen Lewis of Carlsbad, NM; nieces and nephews: Steve Williams, Scott Lewis and Jennifer Lewis; great-nieces and nephews: Chelsea, Courtland and Matthew Lewis, all of Carlsbad, NM; and his beloved wolf, Bandette. Pallbearers will be Kenny Padilla, Ron Williams, Ted Fowler, Brian Patterson, Johnny Skipwith and Jacky Maples. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Williams, Scott Lewis, Robbie Hutchins, Rick West, David Dowdy, Mark Peterson, Steve Peterson, Brit Garlick, Ronnie Gossett, Greg Williamson and Dale Davis.
