Kenneth "K.A." Cox, 90, of Holland Lane, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2016 at Lakeview Christian Home.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, December 17, 2016, 10:30 AM, at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry McKean officiating.
Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Kenneth "K.A." Cox was born August 13, 1926 in Sulphur, Oklahoma to Tokia Albert and Nell (Moore) Cox. He married Joyce Weir December 22, 1945 in Odessa, Texas. K.A. worked as a driller in the oil field until 1957 when they moved to Carlsbad and began work at the potash mines. He retired from AMAX after 30 years of service. K.A. enjoyed traveling in their motor home, camping, fishing and hunting. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joyce Cox and sister, Juanita Jo Clevenger.
Survivors are his sons: Kenneth A. Cox, Jr. and wife, Joyce of Capitan, NM, Terry L. Cox and wife, Linda of Capitan, NM; Melanie Higgins, who was like a daughter to him, of Carlsbad, NM; 6 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren: Kim Maddox, Stacy Reynolds, Karie Hess, Kelly Traylor, Trevor Cox and Keith Cox.
