Karen Sue Killer, 50, former resident passed away Saturday, August 28, 2010 at her home in Artesia surrounded by her loved ones. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Friday, September 3, 2010, 11:00 AM, at Standpipe Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Devine and Chaplain Terry McKean officiating. A reception will follow the service at the church. For any information please call 575-302-5528. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Karen was born December 15, 1959 in San Manuel, AZ to Barbara Page and Harry Lee Goins. She came from a big family and had ten siblings. She had been happily married since February 7, 1976 to Richard E. Killer. Karen and Richard moved to Carlsbad, NM in 1993 and attended Standpipe Road Baptist Church. She liked the outdoors and often went camping or fishing. Karen enjoyed watching Days of our Lives, animals and cooking. She was a caregiver above all else and loved her role as a mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Bryce Diggs; father, Harry Lee; step-father, George Page; grandparents; siblings: Linda McBride, Curtis Goins, Veronica Williams; aunt, Betty Heinbaugh and uncle, Jimmy Grimes. Karen's family would like to thank the nursing staff at Covenant, Lakeview Hospice, Rita Witt and all other friends and family for all of their support. She is survived by her husband, Richard; children, Bobby, Randy, Misty and Kristie; grandchildren: Gabriella and Jonathan Diggs; mother, Barbara; siblings: Richard Lee Goins and wife, and Vicky, Joice Ann Thomas and husband, Larry, Patricia McDaniel and husband, Billy, Johnny Goins and wife, Regina, Bobbie McBride and numerous nieces and nephews.
