Obituary
JW Red Sessom passed away peacefully on the morning of June 17. He is survived by four daughters, a son, six grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren all who love him and know him as Papa Red.
Red spent most of his life in Carlsbad where he fell in love and married a quiet, pretty girl named Alice. Red was a hunter and fisherman and loved this desert. He knew the area like the back of his hand and would gladly share the best quail runs, fishing holes and where to find arrowheads. He and Alice always made sure the kids got to explore the great outdoors and they both worked hard to make life easier for their children than how they had it.
Although he had opportunities to move elsewhere for work he could not leave the land he loved. Red worked at the power plant in Carlsbad for many years until relocated to Lovington. Once he retired Red and Alice moved to Queen to enjoy their golden years.
He was an avid reader and crossword completer and throughout his life maintained a healthy and contagious curiosity for what made things tick, from actual electronic gadgets to the mysteries of the universe. He was always good for a funny story about lifes adventure and was a generous soul to a fault. JW has gone on ahead until we meet again. He will be missed and not forgotten by those of us following behind.
