Judy Waldrop

Judy Waldrop, 83, of N. Ash Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away February 27, 2025 at Carlsbad Medical Center. 

Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life service and interment in the Columbarium is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Grace Episcopal Church with The Rev. Fr. James Brzezinski officiating. 

Judy was born November 9, 1941 in Hobbs, NM to Sanford and Violet (Bowman) Worley. She graduated from Hobbs High School. Judy married Ray Waldrop June 16,1956 in Hobbs. She was a homemaker and mother. Judy worked as a secretary, bookkeeper, insurance agent, and HR manager. Judy also served on the board of directors for Grace House. She was a Mahjong instructor and an avid scrapbooker. Judy was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Alisha Shamburg; brothers: Ronald and Tom Worley; sisters: Joy Hitch and Glenna Jo Page. She was a long-time member of Grace Episcopal Church where she served in leadership roles including President of the Grace Church Women group. Judy was Sr. Warden, the primary elected lay leader of the congregation, and served on the Vestry, the governing board of the church. Judy served on the Altar Guild, Alter Guild Fund Committee, and Building and Beautification Memorial Fund Committee, as well as participating in many other roles and activities in the church.

Survivors are her husband, Ray Waldrop; sons: Jeffrey Waldrop and wife, Nancy, Greg Waldrop and wife, Bernadine; grandchildren: Michael Herring, II and wife, Katie, Shonda Chavez and husband, Jeffrey, Cameron Waldrop, and Judy Metcalf and husband, Taran; great-grandchildren: Jacob, Brooklyn, Zane, Ava, Bodhi, Guinevere, Emma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
