Judy Calhoun

Judy Calhoun, 64, of Oakwood Place, Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away May 1, 2012 at her home. Visitation will be Thursday, May 3, 2012 5:00-7:00 PM Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, May 4, 2012, 2:00 PM, at Denton Wood Chapel with Pastor D. Michael Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Judy Ann Calhoun was born on October 11, 1947 in Hernshaw, West Virginia. She moved here with her family in 1960. Judy graduated from Carlsbad High School in 1966. She married David M. Calhoun on March 10, 1973 here in Carlsbad. Together, David and Judy have owned and operated Cal's Shade Western Lounge and Cal's Cactus Lanes Bowling and Recreation over 23 years. Judy always considered their employees and patrons a part of their family and it was felt mutually. She loved spending time with her family and cherished every moment with Shane and Skyler as they were the highlight of her life. She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors are her husband, David Calhoun of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughter, Shawna Stegall; grandsons, Shane Stegall and Skyler Stegall; siblings, James Kirk and wife, Karla of Peyson, Arizona, Sandi Speer and husband, Bob of Deming, New Mexico, Steve Kirk and wife, Deedee of Carlsbad, New Mexico and several nieces, nephews and extended family. Pallbearers will be Kevin Speer, Eric Speer, Stacy Stegall Sr., Stacy Stegall Jr., Terry Fuson and Russ Calhoun. Honorary pallbearers are Shane and Skyler Stegall.
