Juanita Gonzalez, 78, of North 10th Street, Carlsbad, NM, passed away Monday, March 17, 2014 at Carlsbad Medical Center. Visitation will be 2:00 PM - 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 20, 2014 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A Prayer Service is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, 2014, 7:00 PM at Denton-Wood Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, March 21, 2014, 10:00 AM, at Iglesia De Cristo with Tony Rodriguez officiating. Interment will follow in Carlsbad Cemetery, Carlsbad, New Mexico. Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Juanita Rodriguez Gonzalez was born May 28, 1935 to Louis and Juliana (Baeza) Rodriguez in Carlsbad, New Mexico. She lived with her husband, Leopoldo S. Gonzalez and they were blessed with six children. Juanita loved to go fishing, hunting, camping and gardening. Juanita enjoyed going to her grandchildren's sporting events. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings. Survivors are husband, Leopoldo Gonzalez of Carlsbad, NM; children: Gloria Ellis and husband, Tony of Carlsbad, NM, Sylvia Venegas of Carlsbad, NM, Velma Venegas of Albuquerque, NM, Brenda Venegas of Tucson, AZ, Leo Gonzalez and wife, Luci of Loving, NM, David Gonzalez and wife, Sonia of Carlsbad, NM; stepsons: Jaime, Raul and Luis Gonzalez; grandchildren: Michael, Phillip, Chris and Steven Ellis, Vanessa Doporto, George Martinez, Jerry Venegas, Leo, Victoria and Isaac Gonzalez, Avida, David and Amber Gonzalez, Luis and Melanie Gonzalez, Cynthia and Irma Gonzalez, Jessica and Iris Gonzalez and 17 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Phillip Ellis, Chris Ellis, Steven Ellis, Jerry Venegas, Leo Gonzalez, III and David Gonzalez, Jr. Honorary pallbearers are Michael Ellis, Vanessa Doporto, George Martinez, Avida Gonzalez, Victoria Gonzalez, Amber Gonzalez, Isaac Gonzalez, Jaime Gonzalez and Luis Gonzalez.
